Documents Required to Start a PCD Pharma Franchise in India
Most PCD appointments stall on paperwork rather than on commercial terms. Getting these in order first shortens the process considerably.
1. Drug Licence
A wholesale drug licence issued by the State Drug Control Authority, in the name of the firm, for the premises you will store stock at. Retail and wholesale licences are distinct — confirm which the company requires.
2. GST registration
A GSTIN in the same legal name as the drug licence. Mismatches between the two are the most common cause of delay.
3. Firm constitution documents
Proprietorship declaration, partnership deed, or certificate of incorporation with MOA/AOA, depending on how the firm is constituted.
4. Premises proof
Ownership document or a registered rent agreement, plus a site layout if the drug licence application is still pending.
5. Competent person details
Qualification and experience proof of the registered pharmacist or competent person named on the licence.
6. Commercial paperwork
PAN, cancelled cheque or bank details for the account the business will operate from, and address/identity proof of the proprietor or partners.
Sequence matters
Register the firm, then apply for GST, then the drug licence — the licence application usually asks for both. Starting the licence application last avoids re-filing when a detail changes.
